Uses of Electroplating

Common Uses of Electroplating

There is a precise science behind electroplating. The benefits of electroplating center around the plating process.  Good plating aims to protect, enhance, or improve conductivity of the metals. Here is some of the most common uses of electroplating.

Metals sometimes are pliable.  Soft metals can be electroplated to build the thickness of the metal surface.  This process will ensure that the metal has a strong and sturdy structure. This also increases the wear resistance of the metal. This will allow for a longer use of the metal.

Conductivity for metals is needed in many processes.  An example of this is when plating a copper layer onto an electrical component.  Electroplating will improve the electrical conductivity of the copper. This process will also reduce the friction of the metal. Surfaces for all metals can be prepared for enhanced adhesion prior to painting or e-coating.

Protection against surface abrasions and Improving of surface uniformity ensures the quality of the metal. This allows the metal to be resilient and nonmalleable.
